Dual CAN Bus Architecture

Just like a real vehicle — two isolated networks with distinct roles.

CAN Bus 1 — Private

In-Vehicle Network

High-speed private backbone connecting all internal ECUs — SmartWheels V1 Pro, Mini ECUs, and subsystem nodes. Mirrors the internal CAN found in every production vehicle.

  • ECU-to-ECU messaging
  • Sensor / actuator data
  • Drive mode & SDV commands
  • Instrument cluster feed
VS
CAN Bus 2 — Public / OBD

Diagnostic Access Network

OBD-II compatible external access bus for diagnostics, flashing, and monitoring. Connects to scan tools, TS Master, or VxDiag without touching the private network.

  • UDS / OBD-II diagnostics
  • ECU flashing (FOTA / UDS boot)
  • TS Master / TOSUN tool link
  • Intrusion Detection System testing
What's Inside the Box

Every ANCIT hardware product, pre-integrated and pre-wired.

SmartWheels V1 Pro ECU [80-pin]

The primary domain controller running vehicle-level software, CAN gateway logic, and AUTOSAR stack. Central node on the private CAN bus.

SmartWheels Mini ECUs [32-pin]

Multiple Mini ECU nodes handling body control functions — ORVM, Headlight, Wiper, and Power Windows — all communicating on the private CAN bus.

DWIN Digital Instrument Cluster

High-brightness DWIN display mounted in the case lid, showing real-time speed, drive mode (ECO / CITY / POWER), and vehicle state — driven by CAN data.

View Subsystem
CAN Gateway / Bridge

Isolates and bridges the two CAN buses. Routes selected diagnostic messages from the private network to the OBD bus, mimicking a real gateway ECU architecture.

Integrated Power Supply

Clean 12 V automotive-grade power rail with switch and fuse block — powers all ECUs and the display from a single mains input. No bench PSU needed.

OBD-II / Diagnostic Port

External OBD-II connector on the case edge. Plug in a TOSUN dongle, TS Master, or VxDiag tool for live diagnostics, ECU flashing, or IDS testing — no internal wiring access needed.

TS Master Tool
EV3 Board — I/O Sensor Kit

The SmartWheels EV3 evaluation board acts as a hands-on I/O and sensor interface kit — connect real-world sensors, actuators, and switches directly to the CAN network inside the box.

Kit Highlights
Rugged Carry Case

IP-rated hard shell case — carry it to a college lab, customer site, or trade show. Fits in aircraft overhead bins.

Plug & Demo Ready

One power cable in. Everything else is pre-wired and pre-configured. Boot to live CAN traffic in under 60 seconds.

Fully Programmable

Every ECU runs ANCIT SmartWheels firmware — reflash any node using GenX (no-code) or custom C / AUTOSAR code via the OBD port.

Cyber Security Ready

The dual-bus architecture is the ideal testbed for IDS (Intrusion Detection) and secure diagnostic flows using the ANCIT IDS stack.

Who Uses It & How
Teach CAN protocol, multi-node messaging, and vehicle network design with real hardware — not simulation.
Let students write ECU code on GenX and immediately see it affect the instrument cluster over CAN.
Run UDS diagnostic labs using the OBD bus without risk of corrupting the private network.
Portable enough to move between labs, demo rooms, and exhibitions — no fixed infrastructure required.
Ideal SDV CoE anchor kit for Stage 1–3 of the ANCIT lab progression.
Validate AUTOSAR ICC1 stacks and multi-ECU messaging before committing to vehicle integration.
Test intrusion detection algorithms on a realistic dual-bus network without using a prototype vehicle.
Benchmark diagnostic tools (VxDiag, TS Master) via the OBD port in a controlled, repeatable environment.
Onboard new software engineers on vehicle network architecture quickly — hands-on, not theoretical.
Carry a live, working vehicle network to any customer or conference — no vehicle, no logistics.
Show Drive Mode switching (ECO / CITY / POWER) and CAN-driven cluster updates live on the display.
Demonstrate OBD-II diagnostics, UDS flows, and ECU flashing to prospects in real time.
Open the case on a table — the full story of ANCIT's product portfolio is visible in one view.

Bring a complete vehicle network to your lab, campus, or boardroom.

Designed for universities, R&D labs, OEMs, and system integrators who need real automotive hardware — without a real vehicle.
